No no, no criticism of the Searider refurbishment at all. It looks jolly good indeed.

I just thought Biggles was being a little exuberant with his praise.
Put a revolving yellow light on it and we'd have to send round the smelling salts!

Biggles, I'm out on the river very often. You're welcome on board anytime!

I want that console! I realized on a 40 mi round trip in some rough stuff last year, that the standard Searider console & seating is too low. It's not tall enough to comfortably stand over the jockey seat for more than a few seconds. Either that, or I need to start doing a bunch of squats every day to build up my thighs!

Looking at these photos and coveting that console it occurred to me to simply build a box section to bolt into the boat and mount the existing console/jockey seat to, raising it a few inches. Anyone done such a thing? I'm too cheap to buy a whole new console...

Looks good Matt, when and where do you plan to get it wet? I'd be pleased to bring Titch along for the ride

Looks like Friday could well be the day John.

Why don't we do a Cardiff Jaunt as I think Hightower may be looking to out next week or at the w/e.

Only problem is the weather looks shite for Friday

Monday may be an option for me as well.

Matt H...Are you from the Cardiff area?..the reason i ask is, I`m a newbie,I`ve recently bought my first rib, an avon searider 4m..It wont be going in the water till around March, I`d like to get the engine serviced and it needs a new steering cable, is there anywhere local you could recommend i take it to get this work done. The engine is a Yamaha 40hp...Thanks in advance..
Forgot to mention i live in Mountainash, 18 miles from Cardiff.

The steering cable is a job you should ber able to do quite easily yourself. I changed mine last year on my SR 5.4. Take the old one off first to get the proper length and type.

Looks great Matt Did you manage to get a decent prop for it and is there much difference noticeable between the 85 and the 90hp?
