Searider Refurb
ok, have some pics!!
basically the boat has been used as a fisheries Patrol rib.because of that it was fitted with a different consol, which has since been re-built, the Hull was left in the water with out Anti foul and everything had attached itself to it,
they then Anti fouled it over the top with red paint from Hell to seal in the crustaceans, we later turned the boat upside down for ease,2 weeks later with International Interstrip and a scraper/blunt screwdriver and white spirit, it came up like new, the first pics show the stages of prep.

the boat was then flipped over, (3 people req'd) and taken down to Henshaws Inflatables in Wincanton (Yeovil) and given a birthday, the toobs were green and heavily covered in seaweed gunk and limpets etc, there was even a family of mussels living under the rear of the tubes, they did a awesome job, replacing a fair few bits and pieces on the tubes, also a pair of new Trunks at the rear was made up, !! hopefully the picture shows!!
Thanks to the boys that did it for me and record time as well,
the tubes have yet not been polished as the return journey was a mess!!
finally sourced an engine, the Yam 90 and the 85 are the perfect engine for seariders weight and power,120kgs, transom can take 170 kgs but have heard they are stern happy when this heavy,
decided not to flowcoat the inside as when scrubbed with white spirit,it came up like new, tomorrows job is to anti slip the inner deck!!
there will be two 33L fuel tanks going in and they will sit on a specially made board and strapped down, that will hopefull give me 66 n miles with additional 12 litres being held in the consol, a new Transom board was also made up and sealed in,
last pic shows the deck pre gritted. but prepped,
consol pics show it bare and cleaned with replacement seat pads, the battery (forward section) compartment has been re-furbed with Battery secured in,
electric system components are the original, but all new wiring, have added a tacho, speedo,Icom 505 linked to a Garmin 498, and a Iris compass, kept the original Voltmeter and Nav Light Switch,
A Frame is the same as the otherr seariders but much shorter with a swing down anchor light.
More Pics tomorrow!!
should be all ready in a few days!!
Chris, Nos. fill those tanks up!!!

You're a prolific RIB renovator Matt What is it, 3 in 2 years now?
How come you went back to a Searider after the 560?

i love doing them, i guess i get a lot of enjoyment from turning a load of cr-p into something really good,
the 560 was awfull,it did look great tho, painfull Outhill seats, seats were so soft you would bruise the inside of your legs, very noisy and shallow v Hull,
i have no idea why it was so bad, the outhill stuff is very thin and it guess it causes alot of resonance, the hull would jump around at the sight of a 2 ft wave,it would feel like you were hitting a brick wall...the set up was checked and re checked, i could handle about 3 hours in it and that was it,heavy going! in the searider, i can do around 8 hours and feel great.
The 560 was the best looking boat ive had but also the worst handling
a few pics for interest!!.

you will of course have access to the keys!!

Matt,
I used a Searider with those seating arrangements early last year and what a good boat. I'm sure you'll really enjoy getting that one airborne.
IMHO all Seariders should have that seating.

some more pics, A frame rewired and fitted, also pics of the completed consol, showing battery arrangement. fli--ing freezing today but managed to get two coats of polish on the toobs, they came out really well considering how bad they were originally.picture 3 shows the replacement ropes and rope carrieralso the strake cover that was fabricated by Henshaws, the lower picture shows how bad the front was, the rear under the tubes need a chisel and scraper on them to remove all sorts of Marine life!!

Have you been at the sherry again Biggles?
It's a small working rib undergoing some refurbishment. Not bad, but your description is a little over the top don't you think?

Matt, this looks absolutely superb, i love refurbishing the old Sea-riders too, i'm setting one up as a wakebording boat this year, the idea is to flood the hull and block it in there to create a bigger wake, i'm playing around with using a curved tube on the next one instead of sectional which should make it look a bit more up to date.
'Ere.... 'know where there's any old hulls?

Pompous ass. Have you ever done anything for yourself or does your butler do it all for you?

Actually its a bloody nice, small working rib, something any RIB lover would be proud of owning. I've seen the workmanship matt produces and its awe inspiring. If you don't think so maybe you should be surfing some different forums such as www.Ikeafurnitureforcitydwellers.com or such like.
Tim. You need to get out on that boat of yours and get rid of some of that inner city bad air.

Leave Tim alone
Since I've found out that Tim's mum has the same job as mine (Mother trucker) I think he's an OK geeza.
I also think you should cut him a little slack as his knowledge of RIBS is limited, this can be confirmed by the Boat he owns, so bear that in mind.
I think it's fair to say that beuty is in the eye of the beholder, and that Captain Biggles has spoted what will be a fantastic result when the project completes. but at the moment it's definitely work in progress!
I am glad to see that I am not the only one to be emotionally involved with sea riders, I love em me
I note the cloggies have got a searider club.any body up for one over here
Fantastic result on the toobs how bad where they when they went to Henshaws and how much did it cost to do , if that's not being too nosey
