Seat Material

Anyone got any tips on replacing the seat material on my Delta, the jockey seat bits need replacing looks easy enough, just a plank on marine ply, spongey bit in the middle and some kind of black material to cover it up. Any recommended material i should use?

Try Josh @ Pure Canvas in Plymouth, send me a PM for his number, he did the seats on my Pacific, very pleased with the results.

If you've got the kit to stitch it and you need enough to get it posted, try Annie at Cobra Leathers in Swindon. She sells what's either Nautolex or an exact colour match for less than anywhere else I've found.

Either that or she might take the bases and foam by post and cover them for you.

I used dry suit membrane material when I did my last boat - Polar Bears in Launceston sold it, but others will do the same.

Glued and stapled onto the wood and itself.

I had a couple of seat cushions redone late last year with Nautolex, which seems pretty hard wearing and tough.

Would have loved to do that, but sadly the sewing machine died just at the wrong moment!

So took the separated covers round to the sailmaker in our yacht club, who cut new Nautolex and sewed them together for very little.

For anyone in or near the Kent area, I just had my seats recovered (in Nautolex) by GB Bike Leathers & Upholstery in Maidstone (Motorcycle clothing repairs alterations boot zip gym pads seats) - they do all kinds of heavy-duty stitching. Did a nice job quickly, very easy to deal with.
