Seven Marine outboard engines????

Supposedly these outboards are the best in the world, disregarding the extremely high price tag, anyone know if these outboards appeal to rib's?

A client of mine asked if we can put a pair on our new 12m RIB by KFR Marine.

Will it be wise? Anyone else owned one of these bad boys?

RIBase
Can't you work out what your own hull is rated for?

You know from the specifications of the outboard it is Xhp and weighs X amount, so just double it and see if it exceeds the rating of the hull...

Seven Marine outboard engines????

Well they are 557hp each, so if your boat can take 1114hp and the weight you should be fine! Mind you at £70,000 each quad 300s would be cheaper.

I think you have misunderstood the question.

I don't think the OP was asking whether it is technically possible to fit the engines to his RIB, I think he was asking if anyone had any direct experience of these engines being used on a RIB.

It would be interesting to hear if your customer chooses to go ahead.

Thank you Power Boats, our decision is still pending as we still are researching the subject. But once we proceed we will let you know our results.

Basically a marineised GM v8 mounted as a std car engine ie horizontally then a flywheel to leg bunch of gears ( so extra weight and complexity)
But the engineering looks impressive and v8's are a good solid engine.

and they look fantastic. But saying that If I was spending my money I would be boring and go for Suzuki or Mercury ;-)

Start with a fuel injected marinized 6.2L supercharged small-block V8, managed by GM’s powerful MEFI 6 engine controller. Then put out 557 horsepower at the prop shaft and one word comes to mind… MUSCLE. General Motors’ LSA has nearly six decades of continuous development behind it and 100,000,000 small blocks later, it’s ready for a whole new application – the outboard motor. Running on 89 octane fuel, no premium required, whether fishing offshore, running to the Bahamas or powering a new tender, the 557 is ready. Flexing so much outboard muscle under one cowl has never been possible –until now

I am just fitting a LSA 6.2 550 BHP all aluminium V8 into a Jeep Wrangler. Should be interesting when its finished. Very light considering it has a supercharger and intercooler built into the inlet manifold.
