Shetland Coastguard..?
Spotted this 'bargain' apparently an ex coastguard jet rib in Shetland
2010 AMF 580 JET RIB - HEAVY DUTY ALUMINIUM BOAT | eBay
If you want clearer pictures especially of the palm tree and workshop where it was photographed, try here:
AMF
Shame it's too far for me to go, would love to thrash that one about! 200hp @ 5.8m

Wow, does anyone know if this a genuine sale - no reserve unless I've misread.
Haven't heard of AMF, are they a reputable manufacturer? Looks a good buy and not too far from me
Cheers
EDIT: Just taken a look and their boats look cracking. Believe AMF Boats is on Ribnet. Any ideas if this is genuine? Cheers

Looks dodgy to me. No feedback and not a lot of description considering what it is.
Make sure you are 100% sure it is ok before you bid would be my advice.

I very much doubt that it's ever been anywhere near Shetland. The main photo has been lifted from the manufacturers web site, why not message the seller and ask for their address and phone number? There are probably rib.net members on Shetland who would verify the details?
I expect the seller will tell you they are out of the country and will ship it to you if you pay them first, or similar....
AMF are based in New Zealand (where that Palm tree is growing) and produce some fine looking aluminium boats.

Better still - email the seller and tell them YOU are in Shetland. Bet they're over seas working...

Not too sure on this one, but as far as I can see his only payment method is PayPal so as far as I understand it (but could be wrong) that if you pay via PayPal then the onus is on him to prove you have received the item if not then you can claim a refund from PayPal.
Must admit it does look "too good to be true"

Paypal on eBay.co.uk will only cover you upto £500. Strangely the lowest limit they have of all the ebay countries, I wonder why?
I have sent AMF a link to this thread asking for their comments. I wouldn't be surprised if they know which country the RIB is in as they appear to have made it for a coastguard and will probably keep tabs on key customers and their craft.

I bet the seller hasn't got a landline because they've just moved in and their mobile was lost/stolen/dropped in the bath the day before! I had a couple like that online before I eventually bought my rib. We even had the same boat photos in 3 UK locations for 3 different prices & 3 different contact numbers, we didn't bother pursuing that boat!
To be fair most of the 2nd hand boat websites took the adverts down once we'd alerted them to the dodgy adverts. But there's a lot of it going on online unfortunately.

Sitting at £4,250 with a day to go. I've reported it to Ebay as probably fraudulent. Hopefully they pull it before someone gets their fingers burnt.

I know that this example is a scam, but just in case Ribnet members think Paypal will give them protection when buying a boat, it wont. Paypal excludes all vehicles from its money back policy.

Very interesting has the policy changed then?
This time last year I had my V8 MG BGT 220 bhp for sale on Ebay (still for sale if interested though not advertised yet ) anyway I was offered the full asking price, paid directly into my PayPal account (by three different buyers/scammers) just pass on my PayPal account Email, they would then send their Agent to pick the car up that same day.
So thinks I mmm cant lose, I do not release car until funds in my account I am in charge as to letting the car go.
But it was an obvious scam, so I rang PayPal and run it by them, they said that it was a scam, what the buyer does is pay me the full ammount as requested he then sends his agent to pick up the car, the agent takes the car , the buyer waits a day and then gets onto PayPal to report that he has not recieved the goods (car) Pay Pal then ask ME to PROVE that the buyer picked the car up, of course I cant prove it, so PayPal said that they would have no option but to refund the full £8,500 to the buyer, and I would not see the car again, CLOSE CALL
PayPal said that they do not offer ANY protection to SELLERS of motor vehicles.

Yep, no paypal protection for any vehicles as you said, also no protection for items that cant be easily posted. Not sure what the size definition is, but basically if you sell/buy a wardrobe you cant claim it hasnt been posted etc
