Found a football off of Southsea, brought it home and the kids thought it came all the way from Italy as it had "made in Italy" stamped on it.

Anyone found Olly's Oakleys?

This from a Cornishman where tradition dictates that you don’t tell the receiver of your find and that in fact you spend most of your time trying to encourage wrecks

How's the Spingo Des

Actually that "bugger" is a very nice young lady, who spends most of her time trying to return lost property (flotsam) to its owners, or to the person who had to chuck it over the side to save the ship (jetsom).

Also rewards are often paid to finders of items.

Dunno, you better ask Olly. There's a cool looking fish in the Solent, I guess. Perhaps we could train Spinner-Spinnaker of whatever the Dolphins name is to look for them, must be worth a Trout or three.

Footballs seem to be the most popular item. By the time they finish drifting across the atlantic to the british shores, the poor buggers are bleached right out and so bloated that they're completely round.

What's the law on salvage now? (EG if I find a jetski half a mile out do I have to give it back?)

coming up Roses!

Kept finding lovely fresh flowers which my kids loved collecting.
They have a lot of weddings on the beach here and we thought they were the bouquets.
Wasn't until we "followed a trail" one day and found it was from funeral wreaths cast on the water
Needless to say we have never done that again
with repentance Dal

Lots of law to peruse on this one! e.g. http://www.admiraltylawguide.com/con...lvage1989.html

Have fun!

Paul salvaged a runaway RIB for a Biboa member on a Weymouth Cruise but operated the good-natured principle of looking out for someone else at sea and gave him back the helm (once we'd fished him & crew out of the sea) with a smile.

For time-driven commercial operators who make their money at sea however stopping work to sort someone else out is probably a different matter.

A mostly dis-assembled piano.

It was part of a piano smashing contest ( ) on the beach at low tide. They forgot to clear the debris up from the beach before the tide came in, so it floated off down the channel, all floating bits of wood held together by a bunch of piano wires......luckily the loose bits of wood were floating all round the main wreckage......
