a SIB stands for
Soft
Infaltable
Boat

where as a RIB is a
Rigid
Inflatable
Boat

what differs the 2 is a RIB has a solid hull, and a SIB is inflatable, and will have a soft deck.

- just to complicate things (a bit)... Some SIBs have a solid floor, but the hull is still fabric rather than rigid GRP.

R U bringing your SIB to Herm? they'll be like gold dust when we're getting out to the RIBs! I've nearly bought another smaller one.

Space is tight on my little boat. But I think I would be a wise move to bring it. I cannot say yes, but most likey I will because it will be very useful, especially with the 3.3 outboard for it, would just have to tow it.

But right now looks like I won't be able to join the party until friday lunch afternoon. But I am trying my hardest to get the friday off completely.

None the less I will be there!!!

Yup, Richard sold out. Not only did he sell his SIB, he also changed his name, shame on him for trying to hide his sibster past.

SIB, RIB and RBB

SIB is SIB and RIB is RIB, ok. How about RBB. Could it stand for Rigid Buoyancy Boat, like aluminum and plastic RIB looking boats.

With selective reporting like that, I reckon it's a career in journalism for you. Hope you included your CV when you emailed the BBC last week

Contradiction of terms

Actually guys if we are really getting picky here RIB is a contradiction of terms, how can you have a Rigid Inflatable Boat ? what it should be really is RHIB Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat !!!

And just to upset the SIB gang a sib is just a big dingy !!!

Suspect i'm going to get beaten up over that one now !!!

OMG, scrap this web site, everyone sell your boat, RIBs don't exist!

Where did the "big" come from? I don't think that SIBs have any pretentions at all.

Yeah, you're gonna get beat up! Actually, you're not really going to get beaten up - I thought that I'd better mention that in case you take exception to threats of violence, start calling people abusive four letter names, then run off and start your own boaty-type forum

Also we've got to behave whilst John's away

Touchy

Maybe i can call the new site RHIB.net

No Offence taken at all, Keith and the bacon buttie gang know i'm only joking, in actual fact my boats not much bigger than Keiths Sib anyway though at least i can eat my bacon butties in a degree of comfort and keep them dry

One other point though, i'd always though those big fenders you sibster boys whizz around on look kinda cool for getting ashore to the pub at low water
