Timw I have been on the 7.5 that we met in a remote cove in Serifos. Brand new boat with a 115F Yam. Got chatting to the owner (my favour passed time) and had a good look at the boat. It was made in Greece it looked good and it was sparkling being new. Loads and loads of space on it. It was made for the Med and not Spartan looking. However, I heard storries (VERY BAD ONES) for the SA built boats and I wouldn't touch them right now. The Greek mde RIBEYE is a very nice looking boat.
Phil is a top secret but it can be revealed to you if you right click on the immage posted and follow the link

The BMWs are now made in Greece Alan. I found someone that has the hull of the 8 mtr I think. They are very fast boats and aparently they do not brake. (In case you are interested about Euro 12000/13000 just for the hull)

Alan
Not all SA boats are badly built... and poor quality.....
But I do believe that MANOS got stiffed badly....
I know some people with Falcons, and they seem OK for what they do..... ie good ribs that do what they are ment to , but they are not Scorpion, Redbays or tornados etc
The Hysucat Gavin and I have... is Very Strong........ and the only place I could knock it is little mould flaws and the crap appolistry( cant spell for nuts ) Which has since been recovered. in the last 2 weeks ......
You have to compare like with like, not the best of the best to an ordanary Rib.....
Manos does have a piont about the price, I dont feel they are worth the extra money over tornados, Redbays, XS, Ribcrafts etc
But People will always buy the most expencive, even thought its sometimes only precived quality .

We have been discussing this here in fact with the Falcon rep i.e why there is such a big difference in the finish quality between boats produced by the same factory. Well we think we cracked it. The same happens to a few RIB factories in Greece. Meaning, the basic hull and the bulk of the work is very good to excellent, but the finish is crap. Reason, the factories here employ mainly Alabanias as they are cheap labour. These people haven't seen a RIB ever, never mind making one. So they do the hull which is hard manual work and all the hard staff and when it comes to finish don't know what 'GOOD FINISH' means. If you get some one good at his job you get a nice finished boat otherwise .............
The same we believe happens in SA. They employ all these refugees from Nigeria, Zimbabue etc to make the RIBs and when it comes to the finish is pot of luck whether you get a good boat or not. If you get the guy that is good at his job to finishing your boat you get a good finished boat, if you get the other one who is not that good or doesn't know what good finish means you get a badly finished boat. Therefore, you have quality issues in production. And this is the reason we think that we've got 7 brand new boats here all with different small problems (but problems nevertheless)

Alan,
Can I ask you have you ever owned a Falcon or for that matter seen one?
Out of interest have you read the reviews on Falcons (Rib-X).
I must point out that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the build quality of our one and you are more than welcome to come and inspect our one, but be prepared to be thrown overboard by two irate owners...
