If it's number 161 it might still be the grandaddy here though.

I'm with Nos on this one, earliest SRs were 70's, not 61.

So the 1973 Atlantic is our current leader.
With clarification the "1961" 161 could take over.

Wonder if anyone an make half a century? When were the first RIBs made? Though we need to have a working example to win the title.[/

Ok
So now I am curious. Some muppet must have one of the first boats and probably frequents either this site or the circles in which some of these members move....... The power of the Internet must be able to unearth something.

Found it!!! Kind of. It's built in 2001, but is from the original mould, does that count?
At the national waterfront museum.

I bet there's some of the Atlantics posted on here earlier built from the original mould in the 70's?
I still want to know what fate befell Psychedelic Surfer though...

Atlantic b512: first saw service with Lyme Bay in 1973.
But I sold it last year so probably doesn't count. :-(

Yes so would I ?
I know RNLI Hartlepoole lifeboat station had the first wood hulled Atlantic 21 to go on service which was just about the same as the Psychedelic surfer except with a few extra mods .

So my 1984 hull is actually quite new!
It's been re-gelled as removing 20 years of antifoul made a bit of a mess, but Hull / transom & toobs are all original (and the toobs are showing it!). The A- frame I think isn't too far behind in the age stakes.

Atlantic collage & Avon had a close working relationship
Avon first exhibited a 13 ft or 4 metre wood hull rib (searider )at the 1967 London boat show ,
Avon Grp hull Searider Rib was then exhibited at the London boat show 1968,

Interesting info! Cheers. Though that still negates a 1961 boat. So '73 still winning.

Atlantic College
Came across some old Atlantic College photos whilst reacquainting myself on the time-scale of the whole thing.
