+++Solent RIB.net X-MAS Bash+++

Announcing the 2007 Solent RIB.net Christmas Bash.

Venue
The Lightship Restaurant, Haslar Marina, Gosport.
Date
Friday 21st December 2007 at around 19:30hrs.

As most will know, the Lightship is moored on a pontoon in Haslar Marina.
It includes full Restaurant facilities and a bar with a decent wine list.
It’s an atmospheric place for a group of boaty type friends to have a meal, especially after you’ve had a few drinks and a Cross Channel Ferry goes by about 20 yards off the Port side. – It’s a moving experience!

The event is booked for 30 People and will cost £25:00 per head, which includes a three-course meal, and a Glass of Champagne on arrival.

The menu is posted below, although I will post an update when the restaurant have confirmed the Fish and Vegetarian dishes.

Voluntary Dress code for this event is as usual - Black Tie.

Now the hard part - Admin.
Please PM me your interest, and places will be noted on a first come first served basis.
If the interest is very good, I may be able to increase the numbers, but this option will disappear rapidly.
On receipt of the PM I will supply an address to send a £5:00 per person non-refundable deposit, I will need these as soon as possible, as I will have already paid the deposit for 30 people.
The remainder of £20:00 will need to be collected during the week before the event.

Unfortunately due to the size of our party we will need to pre-order our food.
At the beginning of December I will be chasing everyone for a choice of Starter, Main and Dessert.

Drinks
As mentioned the price per head will include a glass of Champagne on arrival.
All other drinks will be the responsibility of the individual to order, and importantly pay for. Myself and the others helping to organize this event will not accept any responsibility for unpaid bar bills at the end of the night.

Following an informal get together at Port Solent, The Jackeens, Nautibouy, Froglover, Aging Youth, Hightower, and myself will attempt to organise it all and make it a memorable evening for all. Any offers of help with transport etc will be gratefully received.

Any other thoughts and arrangements will be posted as we think of them.

Nasher.

This should be very jolly indeed; the lightship is the perfect venue. Also means I only have a 2 mintues stagger home so no risk of throwing up in Jimbos car agan!

On the transport front, if anyone wants to save them self the drive around the harbour from Portsmouth, I will be running accrosss in Evolution from Gunwarf Marina. In exchange for a beverage at the Lightship, you are more than welcome to park for free at Gunwarf and get a ride over, and then back again at the end of the evening.

Parking at Gunwharf

Hi Tim,

I am not sure that parking in Gunwharf is free? The last time I was there it was quite expensive on an hourly rate.

Can anyone help/check this please if you are in the area.

Many thanks

Hi kevin. It is expensive in the big carpark, but I live there (or is that here) and have ample free secure parking. You would be more than welcome to park on that eve if you like.

All

We are now officially over subscribed
I'm contacting the restaurant today to up the numbers to 32.

Can I ask that anyone still 'thinking about it' get in contact as there will come a point soon where they won't be able to accommodate any more.

Ta

No you won't. You're 12 years old,you haven't got a clue what you're talking about and you're not allowed on licenced premises.

You also don't own a rib unless your action man has one for bathtime.

Go away.

An Update

All is going reasonably well with the arrangements.

The total deposit has been paid a while ago, despite outstanding deposits from some who said they wish to attend - You know who you are.
If you've said you are coming, but not paid a deposit, you are still on the list, so if you've changed your mind please let me know ASAP.
Perhaps I should have waited until all the deposits had been gathered, but then we'd have lost the booking.

Some have paid in full already, thank you - You also know who you are.

Talking of which, I'll need the remainder of the monies very soon please.
I also need your menu choices by Wed 12th Dec.
I'll be at the Solent gathering this coming Monday.

We also have some who have confirmed they no longer wish to attend for various reasons, so have two spare seats that I've paid a deposit for.
So if anyone thought they'd missed their chance, there are two seats going spare.

I'm looking forward to it very much now.

Is there anyone coming from the Browndown Area or between there and Haslar Marina. If so could we share a taxi? We will be staying on The Kingfisher Site opposite Browndown Camp.
regards
