Solent Ribbers Monthly Bash
Hello all
Another good evening had at the Churchillian on Monady, even some pictures published on a previous thread. Didn't realise I'd gone that Bald/Grey!
I've been asked if it would be possible to change the night away from the second Monday of the month, its not my meeting it's yours, I just started it, so lets hear your views.
Some thoughts of my own, in no particular order.
The Churchillian is a good central location that normally has plenty of room and is easy to find for those unfamiliar with the area, and unfortunatly I believe has a couple of clubs in already on the first Monday of the Month.
We do have some attendees who work shifts, and really get messed up every few months when a 5 week month puts their shift pattern in and out of line with a set date such as second Monday of the Month. It would be nice to accomodate them.
Keeping to the same day of each month is easy for everyone to remember.
Keeping everyone happy all of the time is impossible.
Help!
Nasher.

Is the problem with the second or the Monday part?
SWMBO has priority booking for Tuesdays.
Can't do sundays. I have to go to the pub on sundays.

If you make it a Saturday or Sunday we'd probably be able to attend.
Edit: Woohoo!! My 1000th post! Do I get a trophy or anything?

I think the problem is different for different people.
Personally, Wednesdays and Thursdays are bad for me.

Of course, some would say, 'In that case, make sure it's a week day!'

Week days are easier for us, I am at college on a Monday night at the moment, but I turn up when I finish. So it isn't a problem.
If Aging Youth is on call we can't make it at all.
You are never going to please everyone !
But yes a good time was had by all, and I would like to say hi to those who had left by the time I arrived.

It was thrown around as a suggestion the last night that we go for a Christmas Special i.e. a Saturday.
So Saturday 11th December was suggested?
Some far-aways might make it....Fiona is keen to come and Willowkis & Chrisallse too. We don't mind putting peeps up in the shebeen (as usual ) The accommodation ranges from two star to 'starry starry night' if one isn't fussy
As for the general 'Nasher's Do' ...I agree it's good to stick to a regular night and quite a few have got used to the 2nd Monday.
(However I'm sure we could be reconditioned )

11th December is my daughters 15th Birthday, so it would be doubtful if we could make it.

The second Monday has worked well for me but I understand if it was a night i could not make I would like to see a change as it is a good group and it would be nice to see others too. Its good to keep a set day/date. Wednesdays not to good for me and Fridays could be bad with the traffic. Christmas do would be good if we can put a date to it soon.

Pete, are you referring to my possible attendance at the pub or the fact that I have done 1000 posts?
In either case, I can think of one or two other women who you should be chastising as well as me!
BTW, a weekend meet might mean a few other 'long distance' Solent Ribbers could make it too. Maybe there could be a few weekend meets in addition to the monthly weekday one? Alternatively, those of us 'up north' ( ) could organise our own meets?

A weekend meet sounds good, but the calendars are filling up quickly, when is Burns night?

Hmmmm. To get it back on track .
Nasher ya can't please all the people all the time and no matter what Night we pick someone will not be able to make it for whatever reason be it shift, can't be arsed, working late, full Moon etc
If it aint broke don't fix it. You've done a brill job getting it this far as it's not easy to get us lot together.
I agree 2nd monday now sticks in the mind although I got off to a bad start mixing up the days .

How about Nasher's Bash stays as it is, and someone sets up another meet somewhere else on a different day?
