Solent RIBs

Hello Ribnet - We have recently acquired the moulds and tooling from Lee to re-launch Solent RIBs. We are starting manufacture in West Sussex and if you would like any further information please contact me john@solent-ribs.co.uk

Which IIRC started life as an unstepped phantom hull?

Which'll make it a good hull shape with both a good turn of speed in the flat, able to get up on top and skip along on top of chop nicely, but a good amount of recovery in the bow shape as well to handle bigger stuff.

I can't remember how low Lee cut the original hull - how much topsides he left in? Although vaguely remember he cut them quite low to give it quite a sporty look?

It was indeed based on the phantom hull.

We are currently going through the process of obtaining UKCA approval now that we are out of the EU.

This involves stability tests for each model - Good deals on 7.5m / 6.5m & 5.4m ex-demonstrators soon !!!

I have no knowledge of the history of the solent ribs however most i have read appears positive ,regardless i would like to wish you good luck with the moulds and it will certainly be nice to have another british made brand ,hopefully it will be a little more ambitious than the last new brand we saw on here and if perfectly placed in my opinion will be somewhere above the "work /diving Boat and more family orientated gin palace at an affordable price
the ex demo,s look interesting ,bit of a funny gap from 5.4 to 6.5m ,shame theres not something in that 5.8-6.1 bracket

Thanks for your best wishes - we do also produce a 5.85m & 6.0m but these will be made to order (we have the other sizes already in production for certification purposes).
