sourcing MEK in Ireland

Hi all,

I'm got to make some repairs to my 80's era Hypalon RIB, my father suggested that MEK is the best primer for a patch. But doesn't seem to be ready available any more. could anyone suggest where I can source it and shippable to Ireland or the modern equivalent to MEK.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Can you get hold of Acetone? Often the postage is as expensive as the product though. The above is widely used by manufacturers before a repair or seem is done.

Plenty folk selling it on ebay, not sure if it can be posted to Ireland but worth a try. Some folk dont care what they send by post . Search the full name Methyl Ethyl Ketone as mek doesnt show as many results

Sent from my SM-G950F using RIB Net mobile app

Find an industrial plastic pipe supplier similar to BSS/Pipeline Center/ they will have it on the shelf, cheap as chips.

the tubes are in good condition but heavily soiled in areas, I defiantly consider it but just what to have the best preparation possible

C'mere - be careful which solvents you wipe your tubes down with. MEK will weaken the adhesives used for PVC tubes, not sure about hypalon glues. No-one likes a pile of component fabrics....

Mek is for use on pvc boats, acetone or Toluene for hypalon.
