I can't make the 17th. In hospital for a shoulder repair next Friday so I am likely to be out of action for a few weeks.

I have organised a VERY informal gathering at Torquay on Sat 17th Sept. Not sure where we'll head yet but see what we decide on the day. Im based in South Brent so happy to meet up any time.

I'm hopeful that'll be windy, raining and hail stones that day. You'll then be forced to postpone and I'll be able to come
Seriously bud I hope you all have a great run.

Ha ha, knowing my luck, you'll probably be right. Had to cancel several trips this year!

Anyone out on Sunday on south devon coast? LT and myself might be out Sunday. Boats not been out for a while, and last time had a engine issue, seems all sorted so out for a test run, but probably not a 50 miler, more bay hoping...
Cheers
Mark

Did anyone manage to get out from Torquay on 17th?
I was down for domestic stuff (without boat), but managed to swing by the harbour area at about 5pm, and it looked like a few ribs were being recovered on the slipway. Looked like a near perfect day for a blast down to Salcombe or something... sad to have missed that one.

We did get out, had a jolly down to Salcombe for some lunch then returned. Perfect weather for a change. Got a bit lively off Start point which was good fun!

Great photos, perfect day and a salcombe blast is a classic. Did you get to see the seal colony just tucked around start point headland?

As you go from Dartmouth side, just as you go around the point there is a little beach area (under the lighthouse), and they tend to be on the west/salcombe side from there. Think its before the area known as black stone. You tend to get 10-20 common seals, the lighter speckled coat. They tend to be really well colour coded with the rocks and easy to go straight past them.
There is also normally a grey seal group about 5-10, best seen at low tide. These are normally as you come out of Dartmouth, heading towards Torbay, its the first cluster of rocks which I think is known as mew stone.
Had some friends out there the other week and both groups were there then.

Thanks for details - I stuck my nose out of Salcombe today but it was too lumpy just to go round there.
