South Devon RIB group
Hi,
Just moved to South Devon, my Avon Searider SR5.4 finally in water based in River Dart Estuary- looking forward to fantastic year round boating but looking to get to know the local waters safely- just wondered if anyone is interested in getting together for days out and if there is already an established group/network running?
I'm also looking to take some more RYA quals to top up my rusty level 2 so if anyone can recommend a local company for intermediate/advanced that would be great!
cheers
Julian

Hi Julian I've just purchased the same rib as yourself. I live in Chudleigh and interested in meeting up for some days out. I was at Teignmouth on Monday and headed across to Torquay. My boat is going in for a service this week and hopefully I ll be picking her up late next week. I can pm you my mobile number.

We ride out from Dartmouth on a weekly basis, would be up for a local get together, can help out with launching and recovering as well as trailer storage, I'm only 5 minutes from the Higher Ferry slipway.

Hi Julian,
I'm just back from Dartmouth where I base my rib......new one will soon be ready
Always keen to meet up with local ribnetters for a cruise / beer or both.
There's no formal "local group" in the area....unless I'm being shunned but several individuals
I'll pm you my number.
We've had good experiences with Torbay Sea School, but not for a few years, might be worth a call

Now that may be beyond my facebook capability ! I've sent some pm's with my number on. I'll create a whatsapp group if there are any takers as it is very simple and then re post on here for those who aren't in the group

Hi all,
Now based in Swindon, but folks are in Kingsteignton and try and spend most boating time in the SW, but trailer the boat anywhere.
Normally launch Torquay or Plymouth as find it harder to launch the bigger rib. Had a few boat issues this year, so not got out much, but did get out with BOB (LT) for a Salcombe blast, and also one to Exmouth. Hopefully will get some more trips in, and I might even try and keep the boat going all winter this year to make up for lost time.
Going to try and get down to Torquay in the next few weekends to give the engine a run to check its all fixed...
waterbouy - normally launch from Torquay (grew up in Torbay) and have for many years so I expect we have passed each other a few times

Looks like we have making of of a S. Devon ribtilla
Maybe we should set a date for Torbay based cruise - Dartmouth, Exmouth?
I aim to be back on the water end of Sept /early Oct with the new boat if that's not too late in the season. Doesn't stop others arranging an earlier jaunt.

Am Dartmouth based too, sold my 5.4 though and relegated to a 3.4m Avon Rover SIB.
Still get out quite a bit and happy to meet up, not neccesarily keep up!

I think Paul has one pencilled in for the 17th September, I'll try and find the details.
I can't make that one but look forward to seeing the new toy not long after ................
