Personally, it felt like there was less on show than previous years, whether that was actually the case, or whether it was because I've been a few times now and it feels all samey I'm not sure. This year I decided to go because I was doing a VHF and then First Aid course in Southampton. If I didn't have another reason to be there I probably wouldn't have made the trip. That said, I am not (seriously) looking for a new boat at the mo (however much I would like to be), if I was my opinion would be different as its a great place to go and compare.

As for the London boat show, last year was very dissapointing, with virtually everything closed off unless you had pre-booked. As I happen to live in East London there's a fair chance I may pop along, if I lived further away I would probably give it a miss.

The London show is smaller and obviously there is less on the water, as I mentioned if you are there to look at something in particular, make sure you pre-book!

I went to Southampton yesterday, weather was poor, by the time the rain stopped a lot if exhibitors had shut up and gone home!

Went to southampton on friday and was very pleased!

Not to busy and most of the exhibitors were happy to help and answer questions..

Plenty of ribs around (which is the usual complaint here) and a wide range to meet all budgets...

Managed to walk on to the Flemming 55 which was a thing of beauty! I could be very tempted to sell up and live on one in later life!

As for London, i went last year as i had to see someone up there, not worth the effort if you live anywhere other than right next door! in my view, there is no space for 2 boat shows in the UK and southampton has the edge being on the water!

RIBase
I've been to the previous 2 LIBS & after last time vowed never to return. 2010 was poor, but I got free tickets to 2011 so went along, it was worse than 2010. If I'd paid for the tickets I'd have been mightily pi55ed off.
