Speeding on the Essex/suffolk coast-Rivers

I know we are all guilty of it ,but recently there has been a crack down in our area.Harwich requested the Essex Marine unit to spend the weekend a few weeks ago to catch speeders. The local council employed a soliciter for the weekend and as a result i beleive over 5 people have been fined £1,200 each (oouch)Before i get bombarded they gave countless warnings as well to many others.I was even able to get a go on their Halmatic with twin 200,s so as far as i can see there great guys.So please think about your speed if using these waters

The smoothness from 0 to full throttle is effortless for a boat that must be 3,000kg when you throttle up even tight turns handles superb

I wish they would do that down here - its nuts the amount of people that cant tell the differance between 4 and 14 knts !

Our 'marine patrol' spend more time drinking tea and even if people speed I have seen them posatively ignore it !

Because a speed limit is either there for a reason or it's not. Are you also saying the Police have the right to speed when ever they like as well???

Good job I've been off the river recently then! Keeping my speed on the road, in my 300bhp Toyota MR2 Turbo! lol

Just to add my 2 cents,
Am i hearing codprawn right when he says when the RNLI are called to him
whenever that may be, that you want them to obey some speed limit ?
hmmmmmm............

Security forces would have fun trying to intercept cigarette boats with drugs if they stuck to limits....

They are very friendly guys, especially Simon Lofting, as a jetski user I've never had any problems.

They're based at Burnham-on-Crouch and patrol from Crayford Ness on the River Thames to Manningtree on The Stour, with 42ft launch, 24ft Rhibs with twin 200hp Yams and also a Seadoo GT4Tec.
