Alan,
You've gone and done it now, apart from me(21), you and very few others on forums, most members birthdays are previous to the crew of SOC - Old Gits.
I bets its fun on SOC - false teeth, reading glasses and plenty of stories about the war
(no offence guys)

Won't all those 'yachty' types be upset by a load of powered boats?

As I just mentioned in another thread, I've been on the water for almost 2 years now (so I'm still a water baby!). One thing I'm looking forward to very much about the SoC send-off is going out with other Ribs and Inflatables. You see I've only ever been out with just Quicksilver on it’s own before, so going out in a group will be a new experience for me.
In fact I've never actualy even MET another inflatable owner before!!!
See y’all there.
Cheers
Keith (lone boat) Hart

Today, we are starting a countdown.
(yes, send me a list of things to do, and any and all questions you are having about the week-end.)
Alan P has just gone to the boat, to make sure his "globe" is still inflated and he can mark the route on it in black marker pen.
Seriously, he is meeting the tube guy there - to get that sorted.
Clive is also down today, so we will have 3/4 of the crew in
Cardiff tonight!!
Less then 2 weeks now...hope you lot bought your miles and t-shirts.
It was great meeting up with Jools and Cath yesterday - and seeing the Keith Sticker on the first car as well - looks good.
Thanks for posting all the photos!(and yes, I did find a dress!!)
Countdown to Sunday 31st March - 13 more sleeping nights!!!

Keith,
We used our inflatables LOADS up to the end of last summer so at SOC you can meet & touch 2 other inflatable owners!
One of the things I used to love about ours was putting it up - you get this pack of plastic out of the boot of the car and presto, in next to no time you've got a boat!

Putting it up...
Sian,
Hmmm...putting it up was fun for you then?? Pffff, in theory my inflatable should be also fun to set up.
If you read the folder, you will see a happy family (usually with happy dog, children who are not whining there heads of etc.), the man with a footpump breathing life into a shiny inflatable (new!), the woman patiently holding the 15 or so Hp outboard and the children cheering around the new toy.
Reality is that I break my fingers trying to wedge the alu floor in, break my back lifting the outboard onto the transom, loose all feeling in my foot after pumping up just one of the 4 chambers.
Everyone who was with me in the car (can only be one person, as the boat, floor, outboard, fuel tank, bench and instruments and god knows what else fill up the entire car (Ford focus combi) not to speak of dive gear) is feeling ill from inhaling petrol fumes for two hours...
Not so much fun...Don't I just love my little trailer!
Eddy

Having read Sian's comments, and your reply, you can guess who it was that had to load our inflatable into the trailer, pump up the chambers, lug the outboard (25HP Mariner - not the lightest beast in the world !!!) and generally launch the boat !!
Putting our wooden floor in wasn't a major issue (4 sections for the 4.3 Metre Quicksilver), but putting in the aluminium / steel stringers to hold the floor together was a NIGHTMARE !!!!! - until we discovered the trick with the oar - then it was only a BAD DREAM !
However, we are considering buying another one - with inflatable roll up floor - just for those little trips when you cant take the RIB - but only when we can take the trailer
Graeme

Well, there will be no pumping need doing around the SOC - the tubes have been checked and the last coat of sealant is going on today - and she is looking mighty fine!!!
Very smart, with her new graphics and all cleaned up - nothing beats a bit of ole elbow grease.
Today, Raymarine are coming down - so the fitting of the instruments side will be done - so it's all go.
Tomorrow, we launch her at CBYC - testing out the slipway for you guys.
Catch ya later!
In the process of summarising now, so anyone else thinking of coming down, any questions?
Will keep everyone up to date till the last day anyway!
(was going to post something last night, but the computer over-heated and called it quits for the night at 01:45!)
Never mind.

Spoke to the Hanover Hotel earlier on - they still have some rooms available for us - but don't leave it till last minute as they are being booked up with other customers.
ie she is not keeping rooms for us till the last minute, we just have the option to book a number of rooms.

Is anybody going to take some pics of the "launch"?
Nadia - surely there's a digital camera as part of the Spirit team?
I'll happily post them onto the forum if there are any....
