For Keith...

PoB - on a trailer

We were being taken out of the water for our re-fit a couple of years ago.

OK you would need a very big LandRover to tow it - I don't think even the Freelander is up to this!!

PoB Plans

The latest Plans for the PoB - and I've been assured these won't change

We will now stay in Bristol harbour on Friday night - and arrive Cardiff in the morining - so anybody who fancys a Saturday morning cruise to meet up are most welcome.

So our timing for Sat are

07:00 - Leave Bristol Harbour
08:00 - Avonmouth
10:00 ish - Arrive outside Cardiff Bay

We've been assured that there will still be enough water for us to use the locks at this time - so all being well we will then come into the Bay.

(I'm bringing a bucket of water just in case)

All other times - same as before

Berths

I have been trying to contact Paul all day....I am not entirely sure if he has found a bed for the night, if you have someone else offer it to them and I will just have to see on the day. Hope this is OK? For the moment it is still definitely Simon and I.
Cheers

On the Sunday - after all the excitement and Spirit has left us for warmer waters.... Those of us who can't keep up (PoB 10 Knots) plan to head to Flat Holme and anchor there.

Some of the passengers and crew are then planning a "Rib Raid" onto the island.

(Our skipper is a Tug Skipper on the Seven - has been past thousands of times but never landed!)

Anyone wishing to join us is more than welcome.

I understand the animals (Sheep, Rabbits etc) on the island come right up to you as they have no fear of preditators.

I believe there is a £3 "landing fee" per person to the trust that run the island

Re Flathom - sounds great - I 'll see what happens with me and whatever boat I may be on.

One thing you forgot to mention - the seagulls get really close too - there are about 10,000 on the island!!

Russell - good to hear from you - looks like you are still here on line so...take my phone number: 07811553925

Directions to CBYC and all info on previous information pages.
I imagine you are coming by road?

Call me sometime tomorrow, if you got any queries, no worries about the late planning.
Better than not at all huh!

We shall be around sat arvo - so just give me a call when you get closer to Cardiff.
Do you have a mobile phone number?

Sorry, all, but me too like JK et al have no weekend pass after all! Looks like Peter Giovanoli will be the only NI ribster at the party.
I just MUST wish Alan P, Jan and the rest of the team every success and a safe voyage and to everyone else, have a great time in Cardiff .
I hope there will be lots of pics next week, especially the group shot!.

We WILL be there to welcome you back Alan...
Best wishes to SOC and all RIBS & SIBS.

Just to remind you as we approach 6,000 views, this is how it all started:

Hi folks

I've just been updating myself on the 'Spirit of Cardiff' around the world challenge (hey, these guys don't mess about). Just as a reminder their site is:

www.spirit-of-cardiff.com

Does anyone know if there are any plans for a gathering of RIBS to send them off?

I will have two spare places on Dromedary if they are required.

Hi folks,

Whilst I will take Quicksilver out if at all possible, bearing in mind it is only 3.4m, if the weather is just too rough for us on Sunday, a lift for Bill and me would be appreciated.

Cheers

Spirit-of-Cardiff departed today at 12:33

Great party last night,
Good escort group out on the water.
No rain - and not too much wind.

Wait for the photos.

I hope everyone had a good week-end and thanks for all your support.

Keep a date free for the welcome home party.
