We have a ramp listed at Penarth, just south of Cardiff, but according to the info, only 25hp and smaller engines allowed. Might be on the small side for this crowd. If anyone knows of any others please post onto boatlaunch so we can all know about it.
Many thanks and Happy Christmas everyone.

Geoff

Your listing may be out of date. There are proberbly 6 slips to use in the Cardiff/Penarth area with most of them directly into the Bay

Pride of Bristol Support

As the latest corporate members of BIBOA,, I suggested at our weekly meeting tonight that we might like to go across to Penath for the big send off.

We run an ex-RN Fleet Tender - The Pride of Bristol - to enable young people to experience life at sea and in doing so find out about themselves.

There are two ways in which we might be able to show our support

1) Provide accomatation to "Ribsters"
It appears from this thread that a number of ribsers will be attending the weekends "events"
If people are interested we could provide that overnight accomadation in Penath marina
We normaly carry 12 passengers and upto 10 crew - We have hot water/showers, 3 Flush "Heads", 240V electric etc. etc. Not posh, but better than the S-o-C for 75 days!!
Oh yes, I do a good cooked breakfast aswell!!

Much better than a travel-lodge!

2) Provide a platform for press / TV
Alan - I'm sure you have this covered - but the offers there if you need it. We also have contacts with BBC / HTV from other news stories and bits that they have filmed on us.

So, If any of these appeal - please let me know if you are interested.

Can someone give accurate details of exactly where these slips are - and their availability for small / large traiers etc - and at what state of the tide they can be used.

Also, if anyone is thinking of travellng down for the whole weekend - do they have to recover their boats at the end of each night - or can they be berthed in the local marinas etc?

Oh, my first post on the RIB net forum.(don't take much to get me excited)

I am part of the support / volunteer team in Cardiff and am helping the guys.

Being the local chick / babe, if I can provide any information that you need about Cardiff and various requirements you may have for your visit for the big send off, please feel free to send me a msg.I am happy to help any way Ican.

Iam in touch with Alan P and no doubt he, JK and I will be working together on this.

Hear from you all soon.

To all

All you have to do is arrange the time off! Everything else will be taken care off, launching, marina berths, trailer/ car parking, beer and even the fireworks and inthe case of Allen C as you will by now have estabilshed, we do have Rib chicks!

Do I have to "tie" myself down to being a groupie for one particular RIB, or can it be a general groupie?

Nadia - pehaps you could lay out your partuclars on here and see what happens - information given could be: Length Overall, Beam, Max Speed and Cruising Range.

Perhaps some supplementary information such as number of former keepers and any warranty offered may also be useful?

Hm, could we go back to the original topic of this thread please.
The Spirit send off is the title in case you are being distracted.

Pehaps open a new thread titled RIB groupies.

Only a week?

News for all who are making the trip....you do need a few days here in the City. I guess, if you really can't get a day off work, the week-end will do but see if you can make a few extra days. There will be things to do....Plus lots of water to take your boats out for a spin in case the land life gets too much.

Looking forward to welcoming you all here.

I reckon this topic should be added to at least once a day - so I am putting it back to the top.

So, who is coming to Cardiff?

I hope everyone is getting their boats and posse together and telling everyone they know about it as well.

The more the merrier.

My new RIB is due to be ready at the end of February - which hopefully gives us month for sea trials and a couple of weekend shakedown cruises before Easter - so we'll definately be there

Nadia

Are people looking for accomadation?

I posted a message on this thread offering accomadation for up to 12 people in The Pride of Bristol that we would bring accross to Penath - Berthing for your rib alongside!!

I havn't had any responce - so if there are people looking for somewhere to stay let me know

Much more fun than a Holiday Inn

Cheers

I think that this would be great. I'm sure that at least a dozen people will take you up on the offer on the day!

What's the length and beam of the Pride of Bristol so we can make a provisional arrangement withthe marina?

John
