i had a similar issue, with workmen on a motorway bridge grinding. Once the yard washed the boat, they contacted me. I spoke to my insurance, who were marine sure or marine safe from the back of sportsboat mag, and they told me, because they had washed it, they wouldnt pay up, i should have told them 1st. They also said Scorpion owners were snobs, as wanted new tubes from scorpion only, and he would never pay for them, even though he isnt going to replace them....
The yard did an extra clean, and claimed for it on their insurance, it looked ok for a few weeks, but I found bits of rust kept coming out the tubes for months after. Ultimately I changed insurance, and paid for a retube out of my own pocket.

Blimey grinder spray would not be good, there's no telling how deep those molten bits would melt, Fortunatly my tubes where renewed a couple of years before I purchased, so hopefully a good wash will sort it, I'm just a bit concerned there might be lime or something in the white streaks, that may cause future problems.
I received a call back from them btw, and was told Monday is the soonest they can get someone out

Just read through... Sorry to see your Problem!..Very Bad Form from the 'Contractors'! ....If it were me I'd get it cleaned one way or another ASAP!.. to make sure it does the of minimum damage...Take a load of Pictures...Befor after, ect,and get a Statement or two from those relevant....In short Pay for the Cleaning and give them the BILL!
You must be spitting Nails Mate....I know I would be!
I'm hoping you've got it sorted by now.

Cheers Matt, hopfully have it sorted by Mon, the rain has washed a fair bit off the tops, but it still feels gritty with stains running under the rubbing strake. plus what ropes I have showing look ingrained with bits, I've got loads of pics from a few hours after the damage was done. I'll present these pics to them on monday.
All the best
