I prefer sports boat and Rib as its more varied, more impartial reveiws, I found rib int should be re-named Biased Monthly, The editor with a treble barrelled seems to be on every page!

Yes,

I noticed the bias when watching the rib int. TV reviews. They are all the same. Sounds like they are all advertisers or friends of the reviewer. Put me off buying a boat based on his comments!

I'm a bit biased as I am a contributor - I do the monthly race review and occasional articles - if you've got something worth writing about I'm always open to suggestions!

That excludes you Mollers!

Yeah I rember that one .... I think most of them have some bias here or there, at least they help get the products out in view .. you'll soon know if something is crap by logging on here .. except everything Codprawn buys ofcourse which is allways brilliant ....

I usually get both, you just have to glean the relevant pieces for good info, the sports boat mag is also good for showing how much more you seem to get for your 'hard earned' when buying a hard boat compared with a RIB!....I MIGHT ADD,Matt h may not BUY 'Rib International... BUT he certainly finds time to look at mine when he comes round!

If you bought the best one you'd have more money to spend on fuel

Gap in the market

To continue this debate. What mag to buy?
.
There is a need for something in the middle of whats currently available.
RIB International is good, but all new boats at new boat prices.
I think the intended markets are at the higher end, as highlighted by the supplement the other month of super yacht tenders - nice to look at but out of the reach of many.
.
If you compare PBO (Practical Boat Owner), although mainly aimed at yachties, it is divided into sections that a RIB magazine would benefit from, if filled from a RIB point of view.
.
All the raw material (and more) is available in this web site, all the contributors are in this web site and all the potential buyers are in this website.
.
Added to this if it included extracts of say PB2, Intermediate, Advanced, VHF, Maintenance and other courses etc the content could be varied and build up to something that many would want to keep. Great crusiers taken, short reports of RIB projects, updates of whats happening in the RIB world that is not so new and expensive. There are lots of how to do's on this website, again they could be converted into articles of value to publish. This forum has all the raw material and more importantly all the people would will be creating the future raw material.
.
The possibilities are endless!
.
All it needs is someone with enough time and money to kick it off.
Is there such a person on this web site? Or is it the next phase of this web site?
Advertising space could be a mix of RIB international stuff (big engine/RIB manufacture players), and the commercial guys on this forum.
.
The name "RIBnet"
.
Any volunteers?
.
As a feel for interest, would anybody buy such a magazine?

Gerry - great idea - and I know I'm a novice but would be very keen to help pull something like this together.

Articles explaining how to service, how to repair, what to look for when buying second hand - reviews of second hand RIBs as well as new would be of interest along with day trip reviews, long crossings etc etc - the list is huge and as you have already said much already on here or at least the experts

Would be willing to contribute financially but suspect there are people here with enough "networks" to enable us to produce soemthing fairly cheaply and pass that onto the reader - perhaps linking the subscription rate to the membership fees of RIBnet - you get it cheaper if you suppport blah blah blah

Anyway as always am getting very over excited - just can't understand why there is'nt already a "down to earth" magazine or fanzine for this hobby

Jxx
