SR 5.4 questions

I have a mint Mercury Blueband 50hp that I would like to put on the back of an MOD SR 5.4 in order to take my young son out in.
Q1. Would this set up be too underpowered?
Q2. What is the combined tow weight of an SR 5.4 on a trailer without engine?
Cheers in advance.

No but it won't go very well-the 50hp blueband is only the equivalent of a 45hp nowadays and they are heavy.

Depends what the trailer is and what model 5.4. Should be =< 550kg. Avon quote the 5.4 at max 350kg in weight when bare.

The need for speed..

If you just want a boat for pottering around in it will be fine as long as it is a longshaft model. It should do about 20 knots max so for gentle work will be fine.. It would be a suggestion that if you can sell that engine and get a more modern say 60hp.. then that would give you more poke..
