Sr4

Hi

I am sure this question has been asked before but can anyone advise the maximum weight that an Avon SR4 transom is rated for. I know the HP is 50.

Thanks

Hi Pete

Went out from Chichester on Saturday and when I got out to Sea the warning buzzer started sounding and the water pressure light came on. The engine started running very badly so I limped back in !!.

I have got to decide if I should spend anymore money on the engine (already spent £1500 + this year) or if I need to replace it hence the question about weight.

Pete

ouch!! £1500 is a lot not to be happy!! I've just picked up a Honda 50 which I'm told is amongst the lightest 4 strokes. good luck

Hi Chris

Do you know what the weight of the Honda is ?.

I am still hoping that the Suzuki will be ok but it is an old engine, had it rebuilt earlier this year as the waterways were blocked with sand !!. Then had the carbs cleaned and it ran like a dream. Now it seems that the sender has failed for the low water flow hopefully that is all that is wrong and that will be the final repair.

I see that the new Suzuki 50 weighs 103 kg.

Pete

Hi Pete,
Honda are quoting 98kg dry weight including ally prop for the new model, don't think 5kg will make any difference to be honest, a good picnic will weigh same
Any news on your Suzuki ?

Hi Chris

Thanks for that.

The new part has been ordered for the Suzuki and I should pick up the boat on Saturday. I am hoping this is the last problem !!.

The water flow / overheat sensor had failed and the engine had gone into limp mode.

Fingers crossed all will be well now.

Pete
