Stainless Steel
Can anybody suggest a good place to get custom bottle racks made?
I have AutoCad drawings of what I am after. I have had it on order for almost 5 weeks from Halmark eng but have reached the end of my patience for the 1-2 weeks quote on delivery time.
Looking for a place that can make it in a few weeks or at least tell me it will take longer rather than bullshitting me. Incidentally the place that makes a good job will get plenty work from my workplace, we are trying to find a good SS fabricators and haven't yet.

Hi
You could try Ivor Jansen down in weymouth. He runs a dive boat, but also has a welding business on the side (at least I think he does!). Ivor used to build walk through aquariums, so

ps - can you let me know if he can do what you want?

He can do it but is a bit on the expensive side and will take 5-6 weeks to arrive.
Looking around for other suppliers at mo

I have finally got my refund from Hallmark Engineering for my stainless order. After what was supposed to be 1-2 weeks delivery time and turned into 6-7 weeks and counting still I cancelled it. I couldn't get a straight answer from him and the last was that it was "lost" in the post by the courier but wouldn't give me a tracking number.
Now I am looking for someone else that will make me a flagpole, was supposed to be a bottle rack as well but it is now too late to fit that till the next refit which won't be for a long time hopefully.
Anybody know where I can get a v. small ss fabrication made at reasonable time and cost?

Hi Rupert
I dont know exactly what you're looking for in a flagpole, but ours is a length of aluminum tubing from B&Q - not very high tech but does the job.

I want a piece of 25mmOD 316L stainless tube welded to a small bracket that I can bolt to a plate left on my A frame with two wleded loops to tie on the flag. I could fabricate it myself but there is no-one local that can weld it up neatly enough to satisfy me.

S/S Fabrications
Dear Rupert,
Sorry to hear about your frustrated attempts to get S/S fabrications produced if its of any help we can fabricate most items in 316 to a high quality and hand polished usually within 3 weeks for items such as bottle racks and frames.
We could either fabricate you an ensign staff to your drawings or we have a range of off the peg polished stainless steel flagstaffs (removable) complete with raked sockets and eyes to secure the flag to which range in price from abot £17.00 - £27.00 inc VAT which we could post out straight away.
I will attempt to post a picture of one tomorrow if you are interested.
Regards,
Steve The Boat
PS We will be attending the Scottish Boat Jumble on Sunday 2nd May at Irvine if you want to see one and save the postage!!

The bottle rack won't be needed now till the end of the season as I have just put the boat back together again after its refit after waiting for the original one to turn up and don't want to strip it down again. for the pole I am looking for something like this, anything close? the critical thing is the 30degree angle to make it sit straight.................

Rupert, if you're over near Edinburgh, drop in and I'll make you one. Just pay me for the materials. It'll take about 20 mins to make. You can have square tube in 20, 25 or 30 or round in 25 or 35dia.
