I bought one from SBS trailers of all places IIRC about 25quid. They have a showroom in Wolverhampton. I can't see them on their website though.

Whitworths.com.au will mail you one if the ebay dude doesn't. I have one for my Zodiac with a stainless shackle and stainless chain. Looks amazing but a bit of work to keep it shiny.

That Holt anchor must be a bit pants-it's the second time Force 4 have dropped the price on it. It was half price at 60 quid on offer last year.

i suspect people are put off by the folding mechanism like i was, it looks like it works ok with a reasonable amount of chain, (what that length might be i have no idea), cheers

the postage they were quoting (and possible tax cost) put me off, more than the ozzy cost of the anchor. My 23 yr old daughter arrived in oz on friday for 2 weeks (in fact she arrives in Sydney by Grayhound today) but i feel a bit cruel asking her to hump 2.5kg of anchor around Australia in her backpack for the next 10 days! Unfortunately she doesn't drive so not sure how she would get to the shop in Sydney where they sell it. But thanks for the info anyway. Cheers. (do they sell the 2.5 kg stainless folding one at Whitworths?)

I sure hope you want that anchor for a kayak and not a boat? They are known to fold when you don't want them to, and tend not to hold well in sand, and get stuck great in rocks, in which case you have to dive to free them. Yes I own a galvanized one that I use for my kayak with a short section of heavy chain. No way would I use one for my boat.
This folding anchor does work well.

Stainless steel is only one size - 1.5kg. The stores are all over Australia.
If she is traveling, she is most likely staying near the centre of Sydney and I would be happy to pick one up and get it to her, or give her a lift to Drummoyne which is only 10 minutes by car but a pain by public transport or expensive by taxi. I am on the go around there all day for my job.
I can PM you my details if you like.
Note that a small stainless grapnel anchor is not a high hold anchor. It all depends on what you need, but for me on a SIB or my small RIB for occasional anchoring, it is perfect. There is more variety in the galvanized and easier to maintain but they they obviously don't look as pretty.

that's really kind of you. i've literally just managed to find a 2.5kg one in the UK which will save me having to get her to hump it round for the next 10 days, but it was good of you to offer! thanks again

2.5kg is much better I think and a lot less hassle.
