Steering wheels
When I purchase my Osprey 7 years ago I hunted around and bought a Vetus 6 spoke steering wheel. I noticed that the spokes were becoming loose in the plastic boss the last trip out, so I'm thinking of replacing it.
I'm not looking for plastic bosses this time around and am looking for an equidistant one due to hydraulic creep. Any recommendations?

I just use a standard "Destroyer" type. It can get a little slick when wet and cold, but you can wrap the rim to mitigate that.
Won't do if you like a softer or warmer feeling wheel.

Just had a look at the Bainbridge collection and the Ultraflex that low flyer has suggested and I can't see what material the hub is made from. If it's plastic, which I suspect it is then the design look identical to the one I have now and I might suffer the same problem in the future.
A metal boss is the only way to go, any further suggestions?

If its any use I have a nice unused steering wheel I picked up from BHG Marine recently when they were having a massive sale as they were moving and no longer doing chandlery.
Its matt black for most part with part exposed flat spokes and where it fits the hub is metal, not sure if unpolished stainless or aluminium. Looks great I didnt fit it in the end as I used another type which matched my new carbon fibre effect paneling.
You can have it for what I paid for it £30 but you would need to collect from Ringwood area. will see if I can find a photo

Mine visually looks okay, I bet what's happened is that I've hung on to it whist traversing a big wave or rough conditions, coupled with my Pasty/Cake eating hugging figure testing steering wheel design to the limit and beyond
I have my eye's on something that appeals and will let you know the outcome later.

Yep I run one of these wheels on the Whispermax and the RC
Both are spongy rather that the hard plastic

This is what i want but at £175 squids ..VETUS KS45 Steering Wheel type KS feature stainless steel rims with a layer of semi-hard PU-foam which has an integral skin. Consequently no more cold hands with these soft-feel wheels. Spokes and cap are stainless steel. These steering wheels are absolutely resistant against all weather conditions.

The one I have now is a Vetus but it wasn't £175 worth. When I fitted it, it affected my compass. Very strange for plastic and stainless steel!
