The Channel Challenge is Hilary Lister's attempt to become the first quadriplegic to sail, single-handed, across the English Channel.
The Channel Challenge aims to:
Raise money so that other disabled people can experience the thrill of sailing
Show that disabled people can live exciting and challenging lives
Challenge people to rethink their views on disability
Encourage everyone to live their dreams
The support RIB that was going to be use is out of action and the charity is looking for a rib driven by someone highly qualified, or loaned to the charity (they have several highly qualified people willing to drive a rib) to act as a support vessel for Hilary's crossing. The projected day is Thursday the 25th August, and failing that Tuesday the 30th August. Leaving from Calais at 0630 and plan for a 5-7 hour crossing, although it could go longer.
