Suzuki 60hp 4 stroke on an avon sr4

A freind is offering me a suzuki 4 stroke 60hp to rebuild in order to put it on my avon sea rider 4m 1989 transom similar to the deluxe version
Is that insane to think about it or should I go ahead?
Thanks

I personally wouldn't do it as it is over the maximum 50 horse power rating for the boat. We get safety inspections occasionally, plus I often launch next to the Coast Guard station. If an incident did occur a lawsuit could follow showing negligence.

My only issue would be weight. If the weight of the Suzi is within the spec of the boat, then I’d put it on. The power is largely irrelevant (you don’t have to use it all) but the weight could upset the balance of the boat.

What is the transom rating weight for the avon sr4? Where can I find such information?

I had one with a 30hp that went well, but was a liability when I upgraded it with a 55hp 2 stroke. It would chine walk all over the place at speed. The last thing it needed was more power, let alone more transom weight. I wouldn't put a 60hp on. I put a 40hp 4s on in the end which was perfect until someone cut the engine off and stole it!
