the wind was 4 from the se
all of a sudden a large swell set in 2m-2.5m high and 25m apart
what would have caused this ?

Could have been the weather that came up the Irish Sea last weekend? Big waves in Cornwall on Friday, and here on Sat/Sun, so could have been that?

We get that at fleetwood, my guess is that its a sand bar? The water is displaced.

It could be the backlash off that Hurricane recently, or someone on the boat farted.

I would expect the tide to start ebbing at about 11.45am on that day. Hmmm. The wind was southeastly then, wasn't it? Might have been the effect of the wind and 'slack' water just there...
It might remain a mystery.

I think maybe God was repaying you for a good deed. That kind of swell and distance apart must have been awsome fun!
