T.S.Cossack, Crawley Sea Cadets.
Hi all,
This is a post on behalf of the above,Crawley Sea Cadet Unit.
Myself and our First Officer (known to you as "Sailmaker) set ouself the task of raising much needed funds for our Unit by refurbishing Avon 4mtr.Seariders and selling them on to other units and the general public. The profits raised are then gift aided to the Unit to help pay the bills !
We currently have three boats in various stages of refurb and we are fast becoming expert in deck and transom replacewments,flowcoating,g.r.p.repairs of all sorts, making and fitting elephants trunks drains, console refurbs,
(Sailmaker is a dab hand with the sewing machine and making seat covers) and rigging outboards. We have any tube work necessary carried out by our mate ,Ed (RibRaff) and a bloody good job he does too, that is,when he drags himself out of the pub and answers his phone !!(WHERE ARE OUR SAFETY LINE PATCHES,Ed ????!!!!)::
Due to the fact that some little scroat recently broke into our boat compound and helped himself to our safety boat engine,a small tender we were working on means we are using borrowed kit to keep the cadets on the water.
I would really love five minutes with the toerag (may his b...ls turn square and fester at the corners!!) who carried out the deed, just have to wait for the insurance to make up their minds!
The upshot of all this is to let anyone one Ribnet contemplating a refurb of any rib, feel free to contact either of us with questions,we are not experts but I bet if you have a problem,we have got a solution.
Also,if any one out there has a spare 4 metre Searider or any associated kit they dont want anymore, drop us a line,we would be glad to relieve you of it !
Many Thanks and keep ribbing !
