Look at the Taylor Made modular T-top system. Not a true, heavy duty T-top, but not as flimsy as a true Bimini top, either.

With regards to lift with a T Top, presumably you can get an idea of the RIBS angle when at speed and design the T Top so it is adjustable and can be adjusted nose down to prevent it acting as a wing?

Here's where I got mine. There is a minimum distance required between the legs, it's on the website. It could work for a side console, I'm not sure how strange it would look. Otherwise, you'd require a custom T-top which could look just as strange at 4-5 times the expense. I'm extremely happy with my top, extremely solid and well built.
