Noticed some of the generic ones have a "Max speed" ratings. Maybe not an issue on the water but could be a problem when trailering..

No fabricators near you? I had mine done custom and it wasn’t much more than an off the shelf but it needed to clear my head as I’m about 2m tall. I was also able to cheat a little and have it attached to the military strength handrail already on the console.

If it helps with design thoughts, I have one on my Ribtec, created/installed by Ribtec from new, which I find works really well, and combined with a fairly high windscreen actually provides pretty good protection in nasty weather! As well as some sun protection, although that's probably the less frequent calling here...

Any good stainless guy will be able to build one, once you have some firm ideas of what you want, how/where you want to mount it, etc. Similar to above, mine is mounted to the original Ribtec console rather than the deck.

What’s the preferred construction material ?
Most generic ones are aluminium whilst bespoke ones seem to be stainless.
Is it a cost thing ?
Or does size decide, making a large T top in stainless be too heavy with too high a CoG for a (relatively) small 6m boat ?

I've thought about this and thinwall stainless (1mm?) should be the ideal material and 22mm OD might bend ok in a domestic plumbing pipe bender usually used for copper. Haven't tried it yet but will report back when I start construction of an aux bracket.

A professional would have to weld it though. Bending tubes and tacking definitely the easy bit.
