There is hatch access forward via the cabin for the sleek and slender but it's a squeeze. We decided to take the full width and forgo any deck access forward. In our seas, the full width wrapback sides gave space where we needed it - on the dash for electronics and a fully weatherproof door to the cabin. Once the cover is on, it's fully enclosed. We did support the tubes alongside the console to remove wobble and make the footing more secure when going forward.
