There are plans for Mercury to homologate these motors for EEC sales, but not in the immediate future.

Of course, it wouldnt be the first time I got the arse end of the stick, but thats what I've been reliably informed.

And it won't be the last either!!! The 300xs - NOT the 300x - it is an optimax based motor aimed more at leisure users - it meets all the latest regs and is now officially on sale in Europe!!!

Wrong, phone Barrus on Monday and try and buy one then! They don't make the 300x anymore, as it's been replaced with the xs, which is indeed an Opti, but it isn't homologated for use in Europe.

Although you probably wont be able to find that out on Google.

I said NOT the 300x but the 300XS didn't I???

I have also spoken to Barrus who put me in touch with various dealers who told me I could buy one in about April or May.

I spoke to the area rep recently, and he reckons that none of the XS range are for sale to the general public (in the UK) at the moment, as they haven't been submitted for testing. They will be some time in the future, but not for a while.

You can't buy an XS200 for love or money at the moment, as they aren't building anymore till Sept'ish nex year. No build slots left at the factory as the 250 & 300 are more desirable!

If you want more details, pm me and I'll give you his number, possibly.

I think it depends on who you talk to - I was told the 200XS was discontinued!

By the way I might have a couple for sale if anyone needs one?

I think the 250XS was an out and out race engine - the 300xs is more user freindly!!!

I am thinking of getting a 300 for my boat later on - it is a Revenger type hull but it is 9m long and a fairly heavy boat. Choices are the 300xs or the Suzuki 300 4 stroke. Maybe the Suzuki would be better for a heavy boat???

Any more updates on performance and reliability. I am seriously thinking of getting one and wondered whether they are still available in NL. GAVIN

Sake has sold his yellow Revenger and has an orange 29 feet Revenger with two big ones on the back.
I know who owns the 300, so I'll mail both of them: Sake and the new owner.
