I don't know anything about anyone's identity, but I do know Outhill consoles I had a good look over a Ribquest boat at the Southampton show in '08 I think it was, and I the console I saw had fundamental differences to the Outhill console. For what it is worth, the console also appeared better fabricated, and the whole boat looked rather tidy
There, does that get me a free spin in one of your boats at Ribex Mr. Ribquest (whoever you might be?)
it don't really matter, i've got enough of what i want and i'm happy, i've got my health, boat, girlfriend, car (in that order), anybody can copy anything i've done, it's just when they call it there idea.
biff.
don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining
The post you refer to was written by Dave and I posted it for him. He is bit of a reluctant computer user and generally doesn't have the time or inclination to spend sat in front of a screen.
I took a few pictures of the 9m on test and I said It would be a good idea to put them up on Ribnet, his words were "as long as you deal with all the aftermath" and now look where we are back to the outhill console debate.
If you look on there website there are pictures of some of the plugs in various states of preparation, some of the plugs break up when being demoulded.
But while we are talking about copying consoles Hulls etc I don't think there a Rib builder in the UK that hasn't at some time taken inspiration from or copied or bought moulds from other Manufactures, especially when they are starting up and budgets are tight.
If you take time to look at all of the other Ribquest consoles and mouldings they are nothing like anything else that's out there weather you like them or not. So I think we need to put this to bed once and for all.
I would also like to say and this is me not Dave ! that If you own an Osprey, Ribcraft,"Avon searider", Humber, Redbay or even a Ribquest you may be biased towards the brand of your choice. A lot of Ribnet users Obviously have good knowledge and give good unbiased advise to people new to Ribing looking to make there first purchase. Others however can be tend to be blinkered by there own personal preferences and think all other brands but there own are not fit to be afloat. My opinion is that there are may Ribs to pick from some better than others but if you haven't got first hand experience of the Rib you shouldn't knock it.

Unless the bow snaps like on Big Yellow or the console incident with the previous "Ribquest".
as i said earlier i'm not knocking the boat, my advice was constructive, to prove a point i've found a comparable boat to illistrate this.
the parker rib is almost the same in size with 2 x 250hp, but has more displacement, my yellow boat has about 600kgs in the back end but in both cases to tube are just on the water, i may have looked at other boats for ideas but i only use other people's moulds with there permission and i don't copy them

Hoping the one i am building will have the tubes out of the water till laden with crew
then hopefully just touching the water.

Yes quite right, I believe the big yellow Was poorly built from a BWM mould and that design is also used in one of the Parker range obviusly to a much higher standard.
The OLD Ribquest consoles I know were poor and I know Dave has never used the old stock that he inherited in the new Ribquest boats, instead he has sent them free of charge to the people that have the old boats with consoles that have cracked.

Biffer, Your boats look very nice and I'm sure they are capable and well put together, and in no way did I mean you had copied anyone's mouldings.
I have also attached pictures of boats that have tubes in the water similar to the Ribquest.
All of which are very capable and well built.
Having the tubes in the water at rest gives stability, Then when the boat is at speed the hull lifts and the tubes either lift out of or just skim the water. Obviously if you are building a rib for speed like a Scorpion or Revenger the it pays to have the tubes out of the water. Which ever, either way neither is wrong just different.
There's a forever discussion about tubes in or out of the water. I reckon it is good to have boats of both types cos it gives a wider choice of characteristics to choose from. Not many years ago, it would have been difficult to find a rib with tubes out of the water.
The Ribquest does look particularly low for an empty boat but it also looks seriously stable and planted under way and running at a good angle. IMHO of course.
We never got to see the 'plug' used in the development of their Outhill lookalike console.
heres my 2 pence worth ..
this is my 2nd ribquest and i wouldn't buy anything else they are a fantastic rib 1 of the best on the market the build quality is fantastic far better then most ribs i looked at so before you make any negative comments go give them a look over and try one you might be surprised how good they are (unless your welsh they never happy)

So are you saying on computer shy Dave's behalf that the console in question was very very similar to an Outhill
