The "real" Tornado?

I decided to do a search for "Tornado Boats" and came up with 2 manufacturers apparently both producing Tornado ribs. One is based in Denmark, the other is based in Portugal. They are tornado-boats.com and tornado-boats.eu and apparently do not have anything to do with each other.

Does anyone have info on what the reason is for this?

Tornado's business arrangements have been somewhat complex over the years with people, owners, factories, distributors changing etc. In my personal opinion they've made a bit of a mess of the brand (and probably other IP).

lol No, I believe I do not. And I am jut curious how 2 different companies can use the same name on their boats - and designwise they also look very similer, or even the same.

As they are in different countries two different companies can use the same name - especially if one calls its self ABC International and the other just ABC! They do need to be careful not to be accused of “passing off” (that is pretending to be the other one).

Now these two go further because they actually seem to use the same Logo, the O in tornado is solid etc. At least one of the sites implied that is a registered trademark - but it is possible that they both have permission to use the registered mark (or believe they do). Alternatively if the trademark is not registered in a particular country then the protection is different, but it’s a legal minefield.
