The shed is back.
The "Ofspray" is back on eBay. Suffice to say, it's not an Osprey. If you have any sense, please don't buy it. I can't be bothered searching for the numerous threads about this heap of junk, but anything that changes hands so regularly can't be good news. Avoid!

Has anybody actually seen it in person? Does it really exist or is it the ghost RIB of eBay?

More to the point, at how incredibly cheap it is how come nobody's kept it?
It's cheap enough that usually some optimistic newbie will buy it before discovering he can't afford to fix it or run it.

It may be worth an offer to get the engine & sell on and just dump the boat. At what price would that become a viable option? Ie. How much is that engine worth alone

Is it the engine or the boat that is bad?
Or is it just a set up that's too extreme?

It's a home made boats from splashed moulds so I think the assumption is that it's not the most....reliably built boat. I think the engine looks ok, but not for that boat!

Its back again, and it looks like someone was reading Ribnet. No engine this time.

Well that was the sensible thing to do with it. Someone needs to give it a good inspection and possibly some work to get it up to scratch. It could be a good boat for £3k including a 115....

this is possibly from a genuine osprey mould
a few years back ( 15ish I guess) there was an auction at the osprey base it was run like a bankruptcy liquidation but I guess it wasnt my pall who builds boats in the north east bought several hull moulds ,wing back seat moulds and console moulds amongst other stuff he built one or two boats but never a hard nose .although he did have some hard nose moulds my little 3.8m rib came from a plug from there which looks like an sr4 clone
he even bought a computer with all the layup info for the range however osprey eventually persuaded him to return it as it had been sold in error
I never understood what osprey were doing at the time but there were several rumours
maybe someone could enlighten me?

I know which moulds were sold and I don't think this boat "fits the mould" (pardon the pun) with any of them. Northern diver were getting out is basically what happened back then. Osprey is still going strong now though, they had already developed those designs further which is why they auctioned the old ones off. Amongst other reasons..

I know that northern diver was supposed to be the new focus for the guy who ran it but couldnt understand why they sold what were then current moulds
I knew they were still going that was obvious when they came begging for the computer data back off my pall are they still under the same ownership? why the "everything must go" auction?

I think I know where that boat came from, the pics look like the airfield in lee on the Solent and I know a guy who used to be over there who did put a hard nose on something, Jizm will also know who I'm thinking of, we'll see if we can find out anything, it might be a totally different boat in which case I'm talking out of my arse

Not being rude but I think it's only the last but one buyer who took those photos. It's been on ebay many, many times each time with different photos so I wouldn't put much stead by the idea of them having been taken where it was built. Still, maybe it had made its way home! It would be interesting to know who built it and then we maaay have a rough idea whether it's any good or not. Everytime it comes up on ebay I get a couple of people emailing through the owner's club for my opinion on it. So far I've just told them to steer clear!
