The Solent: petrol prices

We filled up at the fuel barge just above the chain ferry in Cowes. Yesterday I worked out it cost 125p/litre. This has cheesed me off.

What are other folk paying? Where is the cheapest?

yarmouth was £1.11, then it went up to £1.16 with all the stuff in the middle east and has now recently gone back done to £1.10, which surprised me somewhat!

£1.10 is significantly cheaper than Cowes then.

Not harbour based I know but may be of interest to people who trailer-sail their ribs. If you spend over £50 on shopping in Sainsbury's Supermarkets a bar code is automatically generated on the bottom of your reciept, this entitles you to a 5p/ litre discount at any Sainsburys petrol station, coupled with the fact their petrol is cheap anyway its probably worth doing, if your buying 50+ litres for a day out or something.

Do you present your receipt when you have filled up or is there more to it?

Going out tomorrow and will fill up at Asda or Tesco

Present your receipt when you go to pay after filling up at a sainsburys petrol station. Make sure your shopping receipt has a bar code on it near the bottom, the petrol station scan this. No more to it than that, I work for Sainsburys by the way.

Oh ok.
Do they endorse the receipt and prevent me from taking a £50 coat back for a refund

They won't even give you a discount for 1000 litres!

Port Solent

is £1.04 per litre - 10% if you are a berth holder or spend 1 night in the marina.
