Those familiar with the Itchen/Woolston area
Does any one know offhand who owns or is responsible for the pontoons under the Itchen Bridge as arrowed on my masterpiece of a picture...
I suspect they belong to one of the residential blocks but have had no luck so far finding which?
Cheers
Ben

i believe they belong to the buildings located on the lqand just under the bridge?? my late father was a property surveyor and mentioned they were attached to the buildings as he did some work over there when they were new...
southampton county council property department might be able to offer some knowledge???

The one on the Southampton Water side (west side) is presently but with the Old Woolston site being redeveloped I have a feeling it might disappear.

The building under the bridge is a doctors surgery.
The slip below the bridge appears to have no car parking, just trailers and the one above the bridge is probably tied in with the unit next to it. There is another above that (not in pic) that may be tied into the rowing club but looks public.
I use crosshouse myself as you mentioned C2 but may be working over woolston side soon so may store, launch the boat from there if you see what I mean.
Are Palmer Johnson still moving onto the old VT site?

the building under the bridge is not only a doc bos but also a block of luxury flats called spitfir court that is whom the pontoons belong to. I know a guy that owns one and I owe you a favour so I'll pass his number on to you......and only you!
The right to gain access to the water is enshrined in the Magna carta so they is difficult to close down possible but dificult if you put up a fight. slipway on the upstream side of the btidge is private and belongs to the woolston marine collegei believe
right thats it too dear to surf where I am presently

The private pontoon is divided into 10 berths, each one comes on long lease with ten of the town houses on Northern Anchoirage. The terms of the lease do not allow them to be sold seperatly.
How do I know? I was about to buy one of the town houses until I found it was leashold not freehold

The Itchen Bridge is a Structure which forms part of the Public Highway. So I suggest you try Southampton City Council's Highways Department.
Regards
Kev
