Omg

OMG

Just been informed that all bags and handles now installed................. and that the RIB now looks like a 'military craft'. I'm not down there until tomorrow to see it, have I cocked it up, will it attract people expecting to find military personnel turn up at the boat, has this devalued it?

I am worried sick

Oh! I bought two more handles for up the rear BUT that was BEFORE the phone call

Very bad news

News has arrived from the marina to tell me that the gap between my rear hole and the engine mount is only 3", I needed 4.5" for the Lumishore rear shining light, For the inner hull illumination idea I will carry out tests this weekend by shoving a powerful torch up my rear hole to see where the light comes out, I have a very powerful couple of Fenix torches, the TK40 (630 lumens) and the updated TK41 (800 lumens), I will try one at a time and them both to get a feel of what it will be like Happy to post pics if anyone wants to see what it looks like with the torches up there, will do it at dusk

Sod it, ordered a BLUE Lumishore light today, reason is that Blue is the colour that will travel further through the water if I remember my diver training properly White would just show up all the old crap in the water, green would look like a swimming pool without the chlorine smell, and blue, well that is just plain chavvy so guess it suits

Will post pics of it when it is fitted. I have spoke to the factory and we are carry out out some tests to find if the hull will glow with an additional in hull light, my torch test tonight will be the first test

Plotter has now been received back complete with 'Tango' tweak . The picture below was taken with a flash so doesn't do it justice, but at least you get the idea of the fantastic unique work done to do the Tango

It's being fitted today along with a load of other stuff, wiring loom is being prepared for the plotter for 12v cigarette socket, bilge pump, horn, Lumishore underwater lights, deck lights in both white and red (for night), connection for 12v microwave, solar panel charging and mains charging. Nav lights are 'Navilight LED system' and are battery powered, it's all going to be pretty cool

Update on 'in hull' Lumishore lighting.

Having carried out light tests within the hull of my Searider 4 it is clear that the hull and deck is too thick to have any benefit form the in hull lighting idea. It's a shame as I thought the boat with a glowing hull would be great, so anyway just sticking to the rear underwater lights, selected blue as the other choices were white and green, white in UK waters would just show the mucky water and green was more like a swimming pool, so went for blue, any divers on here will know blue light travels furthest underwater

Yep, it's quite usual that light won't shine through plywood

When this thing is complete, you should consider towing it down to the local McDonalds car park every Friday night where you can rev the engine, bib your horn, flash all your lights and play some toons?

It's too good not to share with like minded people.

Just got home, fantastic weekend in the rough stuff and loads of jobs done did have a problem when fitting one of the courtesy lights, the rear one, it is a white Hella LED and is just below the rear of the seat pad facing back, as I drilled through it I hit pure steel, seems there is a metal plate sandwiched in the gel coat anyway 5 drill bits later and lots of sweat it is still not done, will have to take a jigsaw to finish it off next week, the red ones either side of the front of the seat pod are fitted. I also bought a nice waterproof Lalizas fused switch panel, that will let me have on off and auto on the bilge, also two settings for the courtesy lights, rear deck are in white or sides in red for night helming.

Here is a little video of the Lumishore lights on a RIB about my size

Can't wait to illuminate grubby UK waters

More pics in the morning
