UK winter off season between Oct - April can mean anything from 15°c to -5°c or less, wind at 0mph to 60mph or more, wave height from 0ft to 20ft, rain or snow from nothing to 24hrs 7 days a week months on end.

Me and my mate who is a bit of a trailer Nerd have come to the conclusion that this is the rubbers in the 'indespension' axle compressing over time. The solution is to just store you trailer/boat on blocks
