Tohatsu 2 strokes 9.8 and 18HP are one of a kind engine that stands alone on its own class, is a well investment to go after. Each one beats any 8.0 and 15 HP engines.-
Happy Boating

>>>That 1 on eBay looks like a long shaft
It does a bit but an optical illusion from the image being taken biased to the prop end. I did have to check against an image of my old one to be 100% sure. There is a whole extra distinct leg section in the longshafts.
That's a short shaft for sure... and a very interesting prospect in original box looking mint.

Values are strong and show no sign of dropping but that was a lot for a private sale, these have always been the holy grail of SIB engines - my 2006 Tohatsu in near mint condition would be priced at £1250 on eBay. If I found a box and bit of polystyrene then maybe more...

Yeah once you add VAT thats what I have seen them for. Still a ridiculous price to pay for a used outboard IMO

Are you selling the 9.8hp for £1250?
I was interested, but I've just read through your previous posts that you did last year regarding all the problems/issues you had with it, what was wrong in the end and is it fixed? As you weren't very complementary about it ...

Thank you. It was some fuel varnish build up in the carb/jet - all sorted now and running perfectly. It is also having a pre-season service by the local Mariner agent this coming week and will be fully demoed to the buyer. Who has already agreed a purchase if he has not now been scared off...
