Took the 440 out for the first time today.

I haven't owned a RIB since I sold my Polaris Sea Master back in 2002 but now I live where one is useful again so after some searching I found a 1989 Zodiac Hurricane 440 and towed it back to Yellowknife from Vancouver a couple of weeks ago. It could use some work but it is usable and the tubes don't leak. Tubes were replaced in 2001.

I was driving the Range Rover on the lake not long ago but there is a bit of open water now so I took the RIB for it's first run today. Only about 2k of the river is ice free now but I couldn't wait. The lakes are still frozen.

The 45hp Honda seems to be enough motor for the 440 but trimmed up it revs up to 6500 rpm so I think it could use a steeper pitched prop. When I can afford it I'd love to put a 60hp etec on it but the Honda will have to do for now.

New to me 440 Hurricane (still on Vancouver Island in the photos):
