Tornado, or not?

I have replaced my touring/training RIB with something that has no markings

My 2008 Nautica catamaran has gone to Wales and I picked up another 6m boat, but there is no provenance, so its a bit of a mystery

I realise this thread is useless without photos, will add some shortly. But was hoping that there are a few key indicators as to what the manufacturer was - any tips on what to look for would be most welcome

Did you purchase it from ebay? Has the boat got an inboard or outboard?
Early Tornadoes didn't have plates and in fact they weren't a requirement until around 1997. My tornado was an original made in the owners garage when he was starting out and when they started to manufacture them on a larger scale they used to put the info on a small piece of paper and lightly fiberglass over it...it is in the centre of the transom. The pre 2000 Tornadoes were built strong and used plenty of fiberglass.
Has it got new tubes on it?
It will be nice to see pictures.
I think you're going to enjoy the tornado and compared to your cat that was lovely btw I think you will love the way it handles in the chop.

92 onwards Tornado plated their boat's....this was inline with legislation change. So your hull is pre 92 ( unless you find the four holes where a plate was)
As you know I'm not a Tornado expert but the brand has captured my interest. A fella called James at xs ribs/ribs retube uk. They made the new welded pu tubes for my boat and James being the son of the brands co founder and it's fair to say that these ribs are in his blood so should you require confirmation then give him a bell.
Looking at your console it's definitely a Tornado and the hull has the distinct pointed bow.
Some of the bigger insurers didn't like the fact that my early 80's Tornado didn't carry a plate but they would insure me following a marine survey...which is crackers.
I found a company to insure me with just a valuation by a firm in the business.....in my case James at xs ribs.

What's your plan for the boat?

RIBase
Looks like a Tornado Viking to me. Had a few additions that aren't standard build but looks the same hull as our dive club one with a new tube?

Insure4boats, they were straight forward to deal with package split as an evaluation at a boat builders. The split valuation hull motor and equipment...simple, no plate or expensive marine survey required.
