OK, So the time has come...Its time to Retube...I'm still undecided... My options are this, Lencraft will retube my boat for €3,375 plus €250 extra for the heavy duty rubbing strake in hypalon, I can get a guy up the country to do it for €1700 to retube it in PVC with a teardrop rubbing strake, Funds are a little tight as I'm getting married next July, I have sourced my engine a 50hp mariner. The price for lencraft is a bit on the high side of my budget, what do ye all think, Its the famous question Hypalon Vs PVC, I know the hypalon will win hands down with its life span but it is on the expensive side...twice the price, I'm struggeling to decide between the two, I used to have a quicksilver430 hdxs which im sure most of ye know by now so this is my first actual rib, and probably my last for some time, looking forward to stepping into the rib world and hoping that the fibreglass hull will make those rough seas a little easier to handle!

Any and all advice and comments will be appreciated, Thanks again for all your help guys, last time I talk about those stupid tubes!!

Aren't those existing tubes made of polyurethane? How old is the boat and what is wrong with the tubes? Definitely stay away from PVC if you don't want to keep re-tubing the boat every 5 - 10 years.

Lencraft had some bad press on here a while back, from what I read I wouldn't touch them.
I'd get Hypalon, even if you can't fit it yourself I'm sure someone over there would.

More seriously, Hypalon every time. If Mr T has a pattern, he's the guy to buy from. I suspect that fitting a simple small tube is not rocket science, and Henshaw's should keep you right.

ok, I think henshaw tubes are the way to go, I have a guy that will fit them here for €700, I just hope they have a template to suit my boat, next question would be if anyone can send me in the right direction that will show or tell me how to remove the old tubes? is it a case of a heat gun and scraper or what? had a quick search on here but didnt find an aswer, im sure there is one on here somewhere...the search continues.....

If your removing the old tubes to scrap them then myself I'd just cut them off about half an inch from where they are glued to the flange. Then you'll be able to see where they are glued on.
Have you tried a quote from Henshaws to supply and fit? Not sure but it could work out cheaper getting the boat to them rather than paying for delivery of the tubes and then another company to fit them.

update

OK, so far the tubes have been ordered from Mr T ( www.tidel.biz ) and should be here soon!! and will be fitted, I have part built my jockey seat but I then stumbled across XS Ribs with their "small console" which is fitted to their 4.6m model, I called them today and they will build and send me the mould for £295 + £65p&p to Ireland, I can do the stainless work myself and get a cushion made handy. Looks like a nice little unit, I have been told it will take between 3 and 4 weeks for me to get the unit, Have attached some pics to show ye all. I will post pics when stuff starts to arrive!

I will get some close up pics later.

I built a jockey seat from marine ply using your measurements but i made the console section wider, after which I stumbled across this console which as it happens are almost exactly what i built my ply console in fact its 10mm less on the width, i also measured the boat well, other than that i will just have to let ye know...anyway nothing an old angle grinder and a lick of paint cant fix

im 100% sure it will fit....hopefully!

I only ask because I contemplated replacing the console when I did mine but decided it would not fit in the location it should be fitted so didn't bother, you may find you lose an awful lot of deck space....

OK, Tubes have arrived and look great thanks to Mr T! the jockey seat is on the way from xs ribs. coming along nice now. I have a 40hp mariner with a
18" shaft, im thinking of cutting my transom down by 2" to allow me to fit my engine without having to sell it on, When the time comes to upgrade to a bigger engine and a longshaft i was thinking of getting one of those jack plates(or something similar) that will raise the engine by approx 2"...basically Im looking to cut a small section to lower the transom and fibre glass it to fit my current engine. pics attached!

Why don't you go for the bigger engine to start with? What size are you after?
