Towing a rib to France - what do I need?

Hi all,

We're towing a 5.4m rib to France on the ferry, going to the coast down near La Rochelle, hoping to do some wakeboarding and general cruising.
I'm struggling to know what we actually need: we have an SSR and an ICC, and numbers to put the SSR on the hull, but is there anything else we need?
Do we need a red ensign? (and where the heck do we fly it?!) All I can find from a websearch is a list of things that are obviously for yachts (including a boat hook! )
Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum. This is something we’ve being doing for years & has been well discussed on the forum. 5 minutes with the search function will provide all the info you need.

Thanks Pikey, I have done several searches, but I am struggling to find what kit I legally need on board in France. Do we need radios? Oars? fire extinguisher? flares? signalling mirror? red ensign? I guess things have changed since Brexit? And we are probably "fair game" for a bored coastguard.

Have a read through this

Sibbing French Coastal Waters

The info in the above link is still valid even after the “B word” event. Very little if anything has changed.
