Transat start

I'm planning to be out for the start of the Single Handed Transatlantic Race - starts at 2pm on 31 May - bank holiday!

http://www.v2020-1.com/thetransat/en/default.aspx

Is anyone else planning a run for this - should be pretty spectacular with 39 ocean racing yachts milling around outside Plymouth Breakwater?

OTOH, weather not looking fantastic...

Just to grab the thread back....

Good luck by the way Alan!

Brian

I will be launching from QAB sometime in the morning - depends on the weather. There will probably be three or four ribs meeting up and we're sure to see you out there. We're a grey & blue Ribeye & it would be good to meet up with some fellow Rib.netters at the start. Should be a good spectacle if the race village is anything to go by.

This is a couple of years off! I have ordered flat seas and sunshine. I might even take the oportunity to write a book because it will be so flat and boring. Now, what shall I call it? I know, "Crossing the not so frozen Ocean" Alan P

What time is the race due to start?

I can't be bothered to drive up with the boat on the trailor but I may launch in Falmouth and come up on the water.

Start time...

Start time is 1400 BST or 2pm to us landlubbers. I undertand that there is an exclusion zone in place around the start line from 1230 but there should still be plenty to see with that size fleet.

Transat

Will be out on the water also.

Was a marshall for the last one and had a very enjoyable day. The uni had all their boats out and if I recall my mate towing Kingfisher out to the start line. He ended up puting his boat between the wall of King William Yard and Ellen McCather on Kingfisher, to save her boat. She didn't even say thankyou but her team were very grateful!

There were lots of opportunities to pick up photographers if your coded and want some dosh!

Word of warning tho, last year there was a horrid very short sharp chop on. Very uncomfortable and very busy.

Chris
