Transducer mounting

Hi, I bought a garmin fishfinder, it comes with a transducer to mount on the transom. Didn’t really give the back end of the rib much thought until I looked at fitting it. I can fabricate some sort of bracket to mount it but not sure how well it would work.

I’m not quite sure what I’m looking at there. Obviously the business end of the boat, but I can’t seem to orientate it into something I recognise. Is there some kind of flange on the bottom of the hull protruding aft ward?
Regardless of how the transom is constructed, SOP is to rig a temporary arrangement with the transducer mounted on a piece of wood & clamped to the transom, take the boat out & adjust the position of the transducer until you get the best results & then make a permanent fix.

Depending how much set back is on the TXr mounting bracket, you will probably need some kind of packer. The flange may create a turbulent water flow that will affect the performance of the TXr, so you'll need to get away from that.
