Transom repair

Hi hope someone can help.
Have a repair to re-fix both sponsons back to the transom on a gemini waverider 4.7m
Found there is a strip of thick PVC between the transom and tube. The tubes are hypalon.
Would like to know if the two part hypalon adhesive can be used to stick the PVC onto the transom ( ends of transom are resin coated) can it then be used to stick PVC to the hypalon tube.

Lastly the rubbing strake is PVC can this be fixed back using 2 part hypalon adhesive?

Unfortunately Gemini SA don't reply to emails.

Any assistants would be welcome.

Cheers,

PVC is not really compatible with Hypalon but I have seen it used on Gemini's before.
Your best bet is to clean off all the existing glue and use a primer on the PVC made up from 50% Hypalon glue and 50% Toluene thinners, paint a thin layer on all the PVC surfaces and leave overnight, then glue everything back together.

Thanks for the quick reply. Tough to find Toluene in Hong Kong, would acetone work ?

Thanks,

I'd suggest using straight PVC glue as a coat on the PVC (or a couple) and a couple of coats of hypalon glue on the hypalon, then stick it together. The glues will bond fine to each other, and the respective glues will bond to the respective substrates.
